Everyone Ready For Spring?

I know I am I want to see those warmer temperatures and pretty flowers and green leaves so badly. If you haven’t cleaned out your old beds now is a great time. Remove all the dead remnants from last year and get ready for this year’s crop whether annuals or in the garden. When working with perennials just cut the dead tops off leaving all the roots to grow again in the spring. Finish removing any dead branches on trees and shrubs. Wait to trim roses until the last of February and first week of March. Now is a great time to either clean or replace your garden tools. Use steel wool to remove any dirt and grime on pruners, saws and loppers and sharpen. There is nothing worse than getting ready for a major pruning job and discovering dull tools. Replacing old dull tools now will put you a head for the spring. Now for the fun part, be thinking what you want to plant this year, what you want to change and what did not go the way you wanted. Do you know what is the absolute easiest plant to grow if you have at least four hours of direct sun and the temperatures have warmed to 50 degrees at night? Ornamental sweet potato vine will grow and thrive if you have the above conditions and be great for both the beginner and advanced gardener. They come in the original green, black, rust, black speckled and tricolor with new varieties every year with different growing habits for each. Till next time, Vicki

Are you going to have Monkey grass or is it called Mondo grass this year?
I can hardly wait and will be working on it soon! I have spotted a couple of amazing looking plants online and I'm hoping to find them locally, preferably at Sutherland's! One is the Double Play Doozie Spirea that blooms all season and the Snippet Dark Pink Weigela that also blooms a long time. Both of these are compact and beautiful! There is also a beautiful yellow Sunorita 36"-48" shrub rose that looks very interesting and another compact, but spreading rose called Easy Strawberry Crush! So many fun new plants out there! Happy Gardening!
